High Pressure Water Blasting

Frimokar offers roading authorities, local governments and other owners of road and infrastructure assets an environmentally safe process to restore surface texture and porosity.

Removal of excess bitumen

Excess bitumen (and polymers) can be easily removed from flushed seals using the Fimokar process. This process creates substantial improvements to both the macro and micro texture of the seal, resulting in a safer road surface, as well as extending the life of the asset.

Once the soft bitumen is removed, the original stone chip matrix remains. When multiple seal layers exist, the Frimokar process dramatically, improves stability of the seal and reduces the overall bitumen content ratio by up to one litre per m2 per single treatment.

Cleaning open graded asphalt

The Frimokar process can be used to deep-clean open graded asphalt. Applying high water pressure blasts excess bitumen particles off the road surface, whilst open graded asphalt is cleaned by applying a high volume of water at low pressure, in a 'washing' action.

Cleaning open graded asphalt revitalises drainage of the asphalt matrix by removing detritus from the air voids. The improvement to the porosity of the asphalt reduces risks associated with aquaplaning and reduces the amount of road spray generated by vehicles. Testing to date has shown road spray can be reduced by up to 90% in some cases.
