The Frimokar Process
Frimokar uses an environmentally safe process to clean and hydro-texturise seals and asphalts.
Unlike traditional methods, Frimokar re-establishes skid resistance by removing bitumen from the road surface rather than adding to it.
Traditional treatments to restore texture usually involve re-surfacing over flushed bitumen seals or asphalts. Instead Frimokar uses a hydro-texturising process to remove excess bitumen and re-expose the stone matrix.
Frimokar combines variable water pressure with high velocity vacuum system to leave road surfaces safe and stable.
How it Works
A – Single Power Source
80% of the power of a Scania 580 HPV8 diesel engine is transferred to the hydraulic systems to power the hydro-texturising process.
B – Fully Automated Operation
The operation is fully computerised, ensuring very consistent texture and high productivity outputs. All stages of the process are monitored and controlled by a team of experienced operators.
C – Fresh Water Tanks
The water tanks have a combined capacity of 6,000 litres, allowing the unit to operate independently of support vehicles for up to 90 minutes before requiring water replenishment. The process does NOT use any detergents or chemicals – only fresh water.
D – Vacuum Storage Tank
Located over the rear axles, the large recovery storage tank holds all water detritus removed from the road via the vacuum unit. Total tank capacity is 9,500 litres.
E – Hydro-Texturising Unit
Located at the rear of the machine are a series of fully-adjustable, rotating high-pressure water jets which remove bitumen (including polymers) from flushed chip seals and restores the texture of concrete surfaces and asphaltic concrete. The process can also wash OGPA by dislodging detritus that clogs up the porous surface. The 2-3 metre wide unit has a unique side-shift facility.
F - High-Velocity Vacuum System
Located behind the hydro-texturising unit is the powerful, large-volume vacuum system. Measuring 2-3 metres wide, the system recovers all the water jetted (or washed) onto the road, as well as all of the dislodged bitumen particles and detritus. The road surface is left clean and ready to open to traffic immediately.
G - Side Unit
A high-velocity vacuum unit is located on either side of the vehicle. With the ability to work in wheel tracks, the flexible unit is designed for more detailed sites and difficult areas. The side units can be operated individually or in conjunction with the rear unit.
